After dark in Moscow
Moscow
Members’ floors in the City towers, hotel bars that keep pouring after the kitchens close, and the tables the good rooms hold back and never publish a number for.
The streets
Tverskaya is Moscow’s established strip — expensive, selective, and the closest thing the city has to a red carpet after 11pm. Ten minutes east, Kitay-Gorod runs a different scene entirely: Maroseyka, Pokrovka and Solyanka string together dozens of small bars through old merchant buildings, younger and considerably less corporate than anything near Tverskaya.
South of the centre, Zamoskvorechye has become the wine-bar end of the city; the old industrial blocks around Kurskaya keep a handful of warehouse venues that only really wake up after midnight.
The scene
Door policy tightens the closer you get to Tverskaya, and barely exists in Kitay-Gorod. A well-built Moscow night usually starts at a rooftop within sight of Red Square and finishes three streets over, somewhere nobody is taking photographs.
