The three-hour stopover that became a week

We sell the Emirates for two reasons. The first is honest: between November and March, when Central Asia is frozen and Europe is dark, this is where the weather is. The second is logistical — a Dubai stopover turns a long connection into two useful days.

The version worth having is not the mall version. Al Fahidi at eight in the morning, the abra across the creek for a rupee’s worth of dirhams, and dinner somewhere that does not have a view of anything.

Where you will go

Where you will go

The places this country is actually about, and what each one is for.

The Dubai skyline with the Burj Khalifa rising above Downtown at dusk.

Dubai

Two days is enough for the icons; the third day is the one you will talk about.

The prayer-hall atrium of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, white marble inlaid with flowers.

Abu Dhabi

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Louvre Abu Dhabi — a calmer, better-planned day out.

Know before you go

  • Summer here is not a preference, it is a hazard: 45 °C with humidity. We will not sell you July.
  • Friday changes opening hours across the country; we plan around it rather than apologising for it.
  • Dress codes at mosques are enforced and we will tell you exactly what to pack.

Designed as a break in a longer journey rather than a destination in itself — the old creek, one desert night, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and the transfers timed so nothing is a scramble.

On request

Not an itinerary — a service. Meeting rooms, interpreters, visa-support letters, airport protocol, and a single coordinator who holds the agenda while your team works.
