Georgia at the speed it deserves: three nights in Tbilisi, a night under Kazbek, and two in the vineyards with the people who make the wine.

Suits

  • Food and wine travellers
  • Couples
  • Anyone who thinks eight cities in eight days is a punishment

Day by day

Day 01

Arrive Tbilisi

Most flights land at night. Transfer, sleep, and start properly tomorrow.

Day 02

Tbilisi old town

Abanotubani, the sulphur baths booked privately for an hour, Narikala by cable car, and a long lunch.

Day 03

Mtskheta and the hills

Jvari and Svetitskhoveli in the morning, then back for an afternoon in the Tbilisi galleries or the flea market.

Day 04

The Military Highway to Kazbegi

North through Ananuri and Gudauri, arriving in time to see Gergeti in the afternoon light. Overnight in Stepantsminda.

Day 05

Gergeti at first light

Up early while the cloud is still below you, then the slow road back and east into Kakheti.

Day 06

Kakheti

Two family cellars, qvevri to glass, and a supra where you are a guest rather than a customer. Sighnaghi in the evening.

Day 07

Kakheti, slowly

Bodbe, the Alazani valley, and an afternoon with nothing in it. Back to Tbilisi for the last night.

Day 08

Depart

Late checkout where the hotel allows it, then the airport.
