Three nights in Baku and two inland, so you see the country and not just the skyline. Petroglyphs, mud volcanoes, and a khan’s palace assembled without nails.

Day by day

Day 01

Arrive Baku

Transfer in, evening on the Caspian boulevard.

Day 02

Icherisheher

The walled city at seven, before the carpet shops. Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs’ Palace, and a late lunch outside the walls.

Day 03

Gobustan and the volcanoes

Petroglyphs in the morning, mud volcanoes after, Ateshgah and Yanar Dag on the way back.

Day 04

North-west to Sheki

A long, good drive through Shamakhi and Lahij, the copper-working village. Into Sheki by evening.

Day 05

Sheki

The Khan’s Palace with a conservator explaining the shebeke glass, then the caravanserai and the halva makers.

Day 06

Back to Baku

Return via Gabala if the weather is good. Last night in the city.

Day 07

Depart

Transfer to Heydar Aliyev.
